The refineries are stopped and TotalEnergies blames the CGT. The company and the union are in conflict over the salary increases that the employees are demanding, and the tone hardened on Monday after 13 days of strike: TotalEnergies explains in a press release that there is “no reason to maintain the blockades” of the installations.
It proposes to bring the Mandatory Annual Negotiations (NAO) on salaries, scheduled for January, to October, without specifying a date for the time being. An initiative well received by the executive, who wanted the two parties to reach an agreement quickly.
“Blackmail” for the CGT
The CGT, at the origin of the closure of the refineries, does not want to negotiate at the moment, and considers that TotalEnergies’ proposal regarding the NAO is “blackmail”, since the company links this advance in the talks to an immediate cessation of locks
The two fields also have distant positions before starting discussions: the CGT demands an increase of 10% in 2022. TotalEnergies explains that it has paid a provision of 3.5% to compensate for inflation, but the unions consider that the figure is incorrect and that a large part of the increase consists of a mana left to the discretion of the administration. Nor do they agree on the quantification of the salaries received by the employees, technicians and supervisors of the refineries.
