The Elysée seeks the services of the former president of Medef. Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux, head of the main employers’ organization until last July, received a mission from Emmanuel Macron on “economic security”, reports Challenges magazine.
More specifically, it involves the writing of a report on the topic of “technological depredation perpetrated by certain foreign powers in France,” the magazine states. The report, presented within six months to the President of the Republic, will not be made public.
China in the viewer
While the mission letter addressed to Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux does not explicitly cite China, it is on it that almost all attention should be focused, as the country is regularly accused of industrial espionage.
The latest example: last March, four people, including two Frenchmen linked to the company Ommic, a French semiconductor company controlled by a Chinese investor, were charged in Paris, suspected of having provided information on industrial sectors sensitive to China, but also to Russia.
President of Medef between 2018 and 2023, successor to Pierre Gattaz, Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux recently gave way to Patrick Martin.
