Enedis teams continue to be mobilized on the ground. If 96% of homes deprived of electricity after the passage of storm Ciaran were able to be replaced, 40,500 were still not reconnected to the grid this Wednesday, of which 36,000 in Brittany and 4,500 in Normandy, being the departments of Finistère and Côtes- d’Armor the most affected.
In areas still mired in darkness, impatience is growing. Contacted by BFM Business, Enedis assures that “interventions are being intensified, with the redeployment of reinforcements in the affected departments, in highly damaged or destroyed electrical structures in well-identified sectors, both urban and rural.”
“The task is immense”
The network manager affirms that his Rapid Intervention Force in Electricity (FIRE) remains fully mobilized, but some interventions are especially delicate: “The task is immense since the technicians are now in diffuse places, sometimes difficult to access and with major repairs,” underlines Enedis.
Among the damages observed, “many trees fell on the lines, causing the loss of poles and power lines.” The trees also “crushed” some distribution stations. As a result, Enedis was forced to urgently order and deliver 8,000 poles to carry out the necessary repairs.
Therefore, households that still do not have electricity will have to wait a few more days. The person in charge of the network, however, recalls that 90% of the homes initially affected by last Saturday’s storm were resupplied on Sunday night.
