During his interview on France 2, the President of the Republic mentioned “negotiations” between the management of Total and the unions, more than three weeks after the start of the strikes in the refineries.
Words that angered Hakim Bellouz, representative of the central union FO TotalEnergies, guest on BFMTV. “There is great concern. At the highest level of the State, it’s crazy, it’s total cacophony”, he laments, explaining that “there is zero negotiation started in Total”.
Bilateral meetings
“This day [mercredi] tonight, the management made the proposal to start negotiations tomorrow if the shipments were unblocked”, explains Hakim Bellouz.
During the day, the management of TotalEnergies exchanged with various unions, but within the framework of bilateral meetings. After this first interview, the CGT said that management was already open to negotiating if fuel deliveries were resumed.
Management “is no longer talking about lifting the strike, but simply about resuming product deliveries,” Thierry Defresne, CGT secretary of the TotalEnergies Europe committee, told reporters outside the group’s headquarters in La Défense. Although a new meeting between the union and management is scheduled for Wednesday night, President Emmanuel Macron said he expected “an agreement”.
