Business creation fell 1.4% in October in one month, mainly due to a new drop in registrations of microentrepreneurs, as reported by INSEE on Friday. These creations had already decreased by 1.7% in September (revised 0.5 points downwards), in data corrected for seasonal variations and the effects of working days (CVS-CJO).
In fact, microentrepreneur registrations fell 3.3% in October, after -4.3% in September. On the contrary, the creation of traditional companies continues to increase, but at a more moderate pace (+1.8% in October, after +3.1%).
Business creation (still in CVS-CJO data) decreases in business support activities (-1.9% in a month after -0.2% in September). They fell sharply in real estate activities (-9.8% after +3.6%) and in construction (-2.9% after +1.3%). On the other hand, they increase again in the transport and storage sector (+1.1% after +2.2%) and recover slightly in education, health and social action (+0.3% after -5 ,5%).
+1.4% in twelve months
In raw data, the total number of companies created in the last twelve months (November 2022 to October 2023) increased by 1.4% compared to the same months of the previous year (November 2021 to October 2022). This increase is driven by the creation of companies under the microentrepreneur regime (+4.6%). But company creations are decreasing significantly (-3.0%) and those of traditional individual companies with greater intensity (-5.4%).
Like every month this year, INSEE warns that “the evolution of business creation registered since the beginning of 2023 must be interpreted with great caution”, due to the implementation of the electronic window, “a significant change” that “temporarily weakens the monthly follow up”. of business creation”.
