Hostages in Gaza: Israel recovered two new remains delivered by Hamas

The bodies of two Israeli hostages were handed over this Sunday by Hamas, within the framework of the ceasefire agreement. They will be transferred to a medical analysis center in Israel to be identified.

Israel announced on Sunday, October 19, that it had recovered two new coffins containing the remains of two more hostages handed over by Hamas in the Gaza Strip under the US-backed ceasefire agreement.

“Israel received, through the Red Cross, the bodies of two hostages” who were handed over to Israeli security forces in Gaza, the Prime Minister’s office said in a statement.

“The remains will be transferred to Israel, where they will be received during a military ceremony presided over by the chief rabbi” of the Israeli army, he said.

The bodies will then be transported to a medical analysis center in Israel for identification.

Ticket to Egypt closed until further notice

“All families of the hostages have been informed and our hearts go out to them at this difficult time. Efforts to find our hostages continue and will only end with the release of the last hostage,” the Prime Minister’s office added.

This Saturday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office stated that the reopening of the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt “will be considered depending on how Hamas fulfills its obligations regarding the return of hostages and bodies of the deceased, and the application of the agreed framework.”

The passage to Egypt, requested by humanitarian agencies because it is critical for the entry of aid, “will remain closed” until further notice,” the same source indicates in a statement.
