Gas traders must submit proposals on the website before 15 November

“Without burden or burden”, without bureaucracy, costs or “administrative barriers”, companies selling natural gas on their websites will be forced to submit proposals that allow households and small businesses to return to the regulated market. Suppliers have until mid-November to offer alternatives to the 1.3 million consumers in the liberalized market, who can choose to move from the free to the regulated market until the end of September 2023.

The “exceptional and temporary regime” that allows households and small businesses to return to the regulated natural gas market is due to go to the council of ministers this Monday. DN/Dinheiro Vivo had access to the decree-law that will come into effect on October 1, and will allow the amendment to those with an “annual consumption of less than or equal to 10 thousand m3”. These consumers will “be able to abide by the contract forms offered on the market and choose, without any charges or costs, to be supplied by suppliers of last resort,” the document said.

According to the decree-law, “last resort suppliers must make available within 45 days after the entry into force” of the document “proposals for the supply of gas to end customers” falling within the limit of 10 thousand m3 of consumption, “without administrative barriers to entering into contracts, through its websites”. It is also established that “the change of supplier is not subject to extraordinary control and the presentation of the declaration of verification is not required”.

At the end of September next year, the Portuguese will therefore have the opportunity to return to the regulated market, with this possibility being reconsidered on October 1, 2023. of Energy and Geology, having heard the ERSE, will provide the member of government responsible for the energy sector with a report on the application of the provisions of this Decree-Law under gas market conditions,” the diploma reads.

The deadline is therefore valid for the decision to amend. Since the end of the regulated market is planned for the end of 2025 for low-pressure consumers with a consumption of up to 10 thousand m3 (for those with a higher consumption it is already the end of this year), those who join can stay there until this regime ends.
