A total of 107,000 people demonstrated in France on Tuesday, including 13,000 in Paris, at the unions’ call for higher wages and against requisitions of strikers at refineries, the Interior Ministry said.
The CGT announces for its part 300,000 demonstrators nationwide and 70,000 in Paris.
There were 15 arrests during the demonstrations, including 11 in Paris, the ministry added. Nine members of the police were “slightly injured”, including eight in the capital, the ministry said, adding that “no protesters” were injured.
The day before the interprofessional mobilization, on September 29, 118,500 people had gathered according to the police and 250,000 according to the organizers.
