SNCF strike: the management “really wants to apologize” to the 150,000 travelers without a solution

The director of TGV-Intercités of SNCF Voyageurs indicated that the railway company maintained “56%” of its trains, allowing 85% of its customers to find a solution to travel.

The strike of SNCF controllers continues this Saturday. Guest on Franceinfo, the director of TGV-Intercités of SNCF Voyageurs, Alain Krakovitch, indicated that the company managed to manage “56%” of its trains, thus allowing “850,000 passengers, that is, 85% of our customers, to find a solution” over the weekend.

But “there are actually 150,000 travelers who have no solution, so obviously we refund the full amount of the ticket,” explained Alain Krakovitch. “We want to apologize because we know that this represents very serious difficulties for these 150,000 travelers who could not travel (…).”

Beyond the refund of the ticket, Alain Krakovitch recalled that customers penalized by the strike will benefit without “any measure” from a “commercial gesture”, in this case a 50% reduction in their next valid trip, whatever the date. and destiny.

Talks with unions continue

The manager assured that the negotiations with the union organizations and the collective of controllers at the origin of the movement have been “permanent” since the Christmas strike of 2022. He also stated that the SNCF management had “committed last week, and again this week, let there be bilateral negotiations, round tables and negotiations on the two issues raised by the captains, that is, the issues of retirement and hardship. New meetings are planned for “March and April.”

We remind you that the SNCF service is reduced by half on the TGV Inoui and Ouigo lines, as well as on the Intercités, this weekend. The company also foresees “normal” traffic for classic Ouigo trains and “interrupted” traffic for European connections, such as the Eurostar. Traffic is better on local lines with “an average of 8 TER out of 10”.

The unions on strike believe that the agreement to end the crisis negotiated at the end of 2022 – where a strike on the Christmas weekend left 200,000 travelers in the lurch – is slow to be implemented. They also demand a renegotiation of the end-of-career agreement.
