After having denied it for the first time on social networks, Catherine Vautrin assured it again this Sunday on RTL: the government will not touch the conventional dismissal system.
In recent days, press reports claimed that the executive wanted to reform, or even eliminate, conventional layoffs as part of its policy to achieve full employment in 2027. “At this point, this system has proven its effectiveness and it is not about “To touch this system, which is precisely part of the well-understood relationship between the company and the employee (…) I will not touch this system,” the minister insisted.
On Wednesday, Catherine Vautrin had already assured in her X account that “the elimination of the conventional interruption has not been studied or considered.”
As a reminder, conventional dismissal represents an alternative to resignation, allowing employees to receive unemployment benefits. It is also a way for employers to encourage an exit without dismissal, a type of amicable termination of the employment contract.
Is full employment still possible?
Asked about the Government’s goal of reaching full employment in 2027, Catherine Vautrin suggested that it would be more complicated than expected: “It is not lost on them that the national and international situation has evolved considerably,” that “it has deteriorated a little.” ” she said.
However, “we will do everything possible to get as close as possible” to full employment, the minister continued. And remember that “even today we find ourselves at a much lower unemployment rate than we had and since 2017 we have returned to a record employment rate.” “It is not about letting our guard down on this issue, but (we must) support those looking for work,” he concluded.
