Switchman strike: the federal secretary of SUD-Rail is supposed to be “following the same strategy as the controllers”

Guest on BFMTV, Julien Troccaz drew a parallel between the situation of the controllers and that of the switchmen, while SUD-Rail maintains its strike notice on the trains for next weekend.

SNCF travelers could experience a second consecutive weekend of strike. While the first movement of controllers led by the SUD-Rail and CGT unions officially ended on Monday morning, another notice threatens SNCF customers.

This is the one presented on January 31 by the SUD-Rail federation, but for traffic professionals, that is, the changers.

If he admits not having visibility on the proportion of strikers expected this weekend, the railway operator opens the door to a new social conflict in the SNCF “in the coming days and among traffic professionals.”

“This is not a union overbid”

According to the federal secretary SUD-Rail, the movements of controllers and switches are part of a similar social framework. “We are in the same strategy, in the same situation as the controllers. These are demands that have been made since 2022,” explains the union representative. In May 2022 there had already been social alarm and at that time my federation had raised “The notification was due to the fact that we had commitments from the management. Only a few months later we found ourselves with commitments that were not respected.”

Among the demands of those who changed were “massive hiring and issues of working conditions.”

Asked about the risk of growing unpopularity of these strikes among the French, the latter responded that these demands are “legitimate.”

“We will go to the end to be satisfied,” he adds. […] This is not a union oversupply, but rather a latent anger that has been going on for several months. “It crystallizes at the beginning of 2024, a few months before the Olympic and Paralympic Games and when we leave 2023 with a fight for pensions.”

Furthermore, the horizon does not seem to be able to clear up in the coming days since the railway worker regrets “not having any contact, neither official nor unofficial, with the management of the company.”
