“Everything that happens here must begin with answers to the questions we have been asking for weeks.” The president of the FNSEA, Arnaud Rousseau, spoke live from the Porte de Versailles, where the agricultural fair will take place tomorrow.
Arnaud Rousseau assures that Emmanuel Macron must “listen to what farmers have to tell him.” Evidently not satisfied with the multiple announcements from the Elysée since the beginning of the crisis: renunciation of the increase in the tax on the GNR, application of “10 immediate simplification measures, reinforcement of controls on distributors who evade the Equality Law…
“Declining Green Deal”
Emmanuel Macron will announce tomorrow a “method to get out of the crisis” in the sector, the Elysée declared to BFMTV. Although he will not ultimately hold a major debate at the Agricultural Hall, the Head of State will remain “in contact with farmers for as long as necessary,” said those around him.
It is not enough to convince Arnaud Rousseau, who believes that farmers’ expectations have not been sufficiently taken into account. “What do we do in Europe with the Green Deal in decline? We don’t want it,” he protested before continuing: What do we do with our vision of production? “We are proud to produce some of the safest food in the world for our compatriots.” Some might see this as a criticism of Ukraine, accused by several agricultural unions of flooding Europe with its beneficial products, environmental regulations and less stringent standards.
“Water drop”
“What are we doing with our fallow fields, our meadows, our livestock? We need these answers.” The president of the FNSEA asked to continue the mobilization. “Our responsibility is to find a way, without complacency,” he insisted.
Regarding the participation of the Earth Uprisings in the initially planned debate, the president of the FNSEA seemed intractable. “It was the last straw,” he whispered. He stated that the FNSEA “will never argue with people who are there to destroy our property” and “who throw Molotov cocktails.”
The radical change of the Presidency, which finally indicated that the environmentalist group was not invited and that the announcement had been a mistake, evidently did not calm Arnaud Rousseau’s enthusiasm.
