The decree that aims to include the agricultural production sector in the list of scarce professions, to facilitate the use of non-European labor, will be published “before Saturday, March 2”, announced on Friday the Ministry of Labor, Health and Solidarity.
On Friday, the Government began “a consultation with the social partners” to include in the list of professions in tension “all agricultural professions belonging to the following four professional families”: salaried farmers, salaried breeders, salaried horticulturists and horticulturists, viticulturists and arborists. . .employees, according to a press release.
Speed up the hiring procedure
The announcement of this decree was made this week by Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, amid protests by farmers. Thus, “across the metropolitan territory, agricultural companies will be able to hire foreign workers from outside the European Union without the employment situation being adverse to them, which will allow the hiring procedure to be accelerated,” underlines the ministry.
Despite government announcements since the agricultural crisis broke out in January, farmers were still demonstrating in Paris on Friday on the eve of the Agricultural Show. President Emmanuel Macron announced that he was refusing to hold a large debate with farmers on Saturday at this fair, after the controversy over the invitation of an environmental group, but that he would inaugurate this large annual meeting and would meet beforehand with agricultural unions.
