“This action is very simple: we have been showing our discontent for more than a month, today it is no longer possible,” explained on BFMTV a breeder who participated in the action against the Lactalis stand.
He added: “Words and words, yes, but at some point that has to change. The bosses of Lactalis, Sodiaal, Danone, it doesn’t matter, but we have to meet people.”
The price of milk at the center of anger
Owner of the Lactel, Président, Galbani, Société and several AOP Camemberts brands, Lactalis periodically crystallizes tensions with farmers over the price of milk. Last week, about 200 protesters tried to enter the Lactalis headquarters, in Laval (Mayenne), at the call of the Paysanne Confederation. The latter demanded in vain a meeting with the management of Lactalis, demanding better remuneration for the farmers.
Lactalis reacted in a press release by stating “being surprised by the celebration of this mobilization” and “deploring the conditions in which it took place.” [s’était] developed”, referring to the negotiations “ongoing” under the auspices of the trade relations mediator.
