The inauguration took place with great fanfare. The first “zero waste” supermarket in France received a visit from Olivia Grégoire, Minister of Business, Tourism and Consumer Affairs, on March 26. The doors of this “Super tout nu”, launched by the business couple Salomé and Pierre Géraud, who are already at the origin of the first Drive tout nu, will open at the beginning of April in Labège, on the outskirts of Toulouse.
To avoid any packaging, this supermarket makes jars available to its customers when entering the store. They are free and without deposit.
In this approximately 400 square meter supermarket, where products are sold in bulk and in jars lined up on the shelves, simple reusable packaging, such as cloth bags, can also be used as containers.
2,000 references offered
The store offers a total of 2,000 references. Around 60% of its supply is provided by local producers, located within a 100 kilometer radius. The rest is supplied mainly by national industrialists, such as Lustucru or Michel et Augustin.
The company works with around 400 producers in each city where it is established. Salomé and Pierre Géraud have already opened five Naked Drives in Toulouse, Bordeaux and Lille, the first of them in 2018. The idea was already to allow consumers to make their purchases without generating waste, using returnable jars. All of this favoring organic and local products.
If the first Super Naked is successful, others could see the light of day in other places besides Toulouse, especially where Drives Naked are already established.
