On the pension reform, “65 years is not a dogma,” declared Emmanuel Macron during the presidential campaign. Invited this Wednesday on France 2, the Head of State confirmed his position, saying that he was “open” to a postponement of the legal exit age to 64 years, with the condition of extending the duration of the contribution at the same time .
“If some (social partners, editor’s note) say ‘we are ready to go until 64, but in return, if you make this gesture, we are ready to work a few more quarters’, because there are other ways to do it, it is not only the legal age, it is to work a few more quarters, I am open,” said Emmanuel Macron.
“Everything is that our model has been put back on its feet, if I may say so, and that we, the assets, are financing the retirement of our retirees well,” he added.
