Bruno Le Maire on the benefits of TotalEnergies: “I say all the better”

Guest of BFM Business, the Minister of Economy and Finance reacted to the results of TotalEnergies.

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire, hailed TotalEnergies’ earnings on Thursday, of 6.6 billion dollars in the third quarter, and recalled that this allowed, in particular, “to pay a discount on fuel” at the pump.

“I say all the better. (…) When a French company is successful, I think we should all be satisfied with this success and we should all be proud of having a great energy company that is French like Total,” he said. declared Bruno Le Maire in BFM Business.

The minister recalled that the results of TotalEnergies made it possible to extend until mid-November the bonus at the pump on fuel, of 20 cents per liter by TotalEnergies at its service stations (in addition to the 30 cents from the State).

TotalEnergies announced on Thursday a net profit of 6.6 billion dollars in the 3rd quarter, 43% more than that of the 3rd quarter of 2021. According to Bruno Le Maire, these results also allow TotalEnergies to “increase salaries” and “give a 13th month to the employees.

“It’s good news if they share the value in the company,” “if they lower the bill for the French,” said Public Accounts Minister Gabriel Attal on FranceInfo radio. “We are going to tax them,” he added, referring to the European mechanism that should allow taxing refining activities in France.
