This is another very good contract for Airbus. CDB Aviation, the aircraft leasing company of China Development Bank Financial Leasing, announced on Thursday that it has reached an agreement to acquire 80 Airbus A320neo aircraft.
This is the second largest order in volume this year for the European aircraft manufacturer.
“The purchase will optimize the fleet structure and increase the proportion of new-generation aircraft that have high fuel efficiency and wide market penetration,” the statement said.
Already more than 150 Airbus in its portfolio
The agreement provides for deliveries of these devices to take place between 2030 and 2032. The amount of the contract has not been specified.
Shenzhen-based CDB Aviation currently has about 300 aircraft in its portfolio, half of which are from the Airbus A320 family, Bloomberg reports, and has placed orders for another 80 aircraft before this latest one.
According to KPMG, the company is the eleventh largest aircraft lessor in the world. This activity is on the rise: airlines facing delays in the delivery of new Airbus and Boeing aircraft are increasingly asking lessors to compensate for these delays. Enough to push up the prices of these leases.
