Three days of public shortages: Jean-Luc Mélenchon denounces a “very bad public health measure”
Jean-Luc Mélenchon denounced the government’s proposal to increase to three days (compared to one currently) the number of waiting days for civil servants on sick leave, as in the private sector, to combat the increase in absenteeism and save money:
Jean-Luc Mélenchon considered that this was “a very bad public health measure”, knowing that “sick people (…) who return to work make others sick.” “Is saving money a social project? “Of course not,” he concluded.
The Minister of Budgets open to the debate on the elimination of a second holiday
Budget Minister Laurent Saint-Martin was open to a parliamentary debate on eliminating a second holiday, generally believing that working harder to participate in the recovery effort was “in the right direction.” This measure, which would amount to around 2.4 billion euros, would also allow for the financing of nursing homes.
“I think anything that allows our country to demonstrate that we can work harder to participate in the recovery effort is going in the right direction,” the minister said.

MEPs resume examination of the draft Social Security budget
Hello and welcome to this live stream dedicated to the second day of examination of the Social Security financing bill.
