ETIX is a data center operator that offers colocation services in its interconnection centers. We host our clients’ IT and telecommunications infrastructures, committing to providing them with 24/7 power, as well as adequate temperature and humidity conditions to maximize the efficiency of their machines, while ensuring their physical security. As a major player in this industry, ETIX therefore has the responsibility to have a positive impact at the local level, favoring local players to operate their data centers. But also implementing various measures to reduce our carbon footprint, in particular optimizing the energy performance of our facilities and diversifying our energy mix. The production of our photovoltaic parks already covers part of our consumption but we want to go further by signing electricity purchase contracts with green energy providers.
In addition, we are in the process of systematizing in our facilities the supply of local heating networks with the residual heat generated by our servers.
Finally, by joining the Climate Neutral Data Center Pact partnership, ETIX is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. Our latest acquisition was also financed through a green lease, with a decarbonization track record audited each year. In case of non-compliance with objectives, penalties are applied to our rate.
Why is data center decentralization becoming crucial with the rise of data and artificial intelligence?
The data center market is growing strongly, and artificial intelligence has a strong impact on needs, estimated at 20% annually until 2030. In France, Paris and Marseille concentrate most of the data center capacities. data, but the infrastructure, both energy and telecommunications, will not be able to satisfy all these needs.
