“Zero tolerance”: Ryanair again continues a rebel passenger

The man is persecuted by the low -cost company in the Spanish courts. It altered a flight that began from Lanzarote (Canary Islands) on January 17.

Ryanair hardly hardens the tone in front of rebel passengers (often drunk) that interrupt their flights and, therefore, make it lose money. The low -cost airline confirms a procedure before the Spanish justice against one of its clients that interrupted a flight from Lanzarote (Canaries) on January 17.

This passenger claimed to be a UN diplomat and wanted to sit in a seat that was not assigned. Then he had been aggressive with the crew before being evacuated from the plane by the Civil Guard, which led to the immobilization of the plane at the airport.

Ryanair now intends to apply a “zero tolerance policy” towards these inappropriate behaviors.

“However, this was unfortunately the case of the passengers of this flight of Lanzarote in Santiago in January, during which a disruptive passenger caused an initial delay due to its bad behavior,” said the company.

Discourage

“We have initiated a criminal prosecution against this passenger, at the end of which the court could pronounce a sentence of 3 to 12 months in prison or a fine equivalent to 6-18 months of salary. We hope that this example will discourage the future disruptive behaviors on Ryanair flights, so that passengers and the crew can travel in a comfortable and respectful environment, as is their right.”

Last January, the operator decided to process one of its clients and claim 15,000 euros in damage to it before the Irish justice.

In April 2024, the behavior of this passenger had forced the crew of this flight between Dublin and Lanzarote to confuse Porto, blocking the 160 passengers on the site during the night.

This incident resulted in “15,000 euros in accommodation costs, expenses for passengers and landing costs,” Ryanair continues. “Now we have initiated a civil action to recover these costs of this passenger.”

According to IATA figures, the International Air Transport Association, there were 2022 An incident (Incivility, indiscipline, insults …) for 568 flights against 835 flights, in 2021.
