BFM Commercial Information. An EDF’s heavy merchandise vehicle will leave the Board of Directors

Philippe Petitcolin announced that he will resign his position as director of the public company by the end of the year. The current Alstom president was a fervent support from the CEO that the State has just expelled.

The Luc Remont’s eviction shock wave spreads in EDF. According to several sources close to the company, Philippe Petitcolin will resign his position as administrator of the public company. The former Safran chief, between 2015 and 2020, announced his decision to the State, a 100%EDF shareholder, apart from the last Board of Directors, in mid -April. Administrator since 2019, he was renewed last year and said he would not go after his mandate, which extends until 2028.

His resignation has not been signed and his departure date has not yet been decided. According to a nearby source, Philippe Petitcolin should leave the Board of Directors of EDF by the end of the year to give the shareholder time to renew a good part of the administrators, around the new CEO, Bernard Fontana.

The statement of the shareholder does not want the departure of Philippe Petitcolin. First not to worsen internal tremors after thanking CEO Luc Rémont a month ago. A first administrator, Bruno Cremel, closed the board of the Board of Directors at its last meeting on April 15.

Do not interfere with the appointment of the future CEO

This does not seem to be the case of Philippe Petitcolin, who maintains cordial relations with the government. They cohabit Safran and Knds, whose state is 50% and that presided between 2021 and 2024. Today, it remains administrator of the manufacturer of Franco-Elemanos armored vehicles and president of ALSTOM. Contacted, EDF and the Ministry of Economy did not want to comment.

Bercy does not want his resignation to interfere with the appointment of the next EDF CEO. Bernard Fontana, who comes from Framatome, will be audited by Parliament on Wednesday, April 30. He will take office a week later, after the General Assembly of May 5, which should also be chaired by Philippe Petitcolin.

“These two administrators defended Luc Rémont’s vision of administering EDF as a private company against state intervention,” he deciphers a good connoisseur of the public company.

The president of Alstom does not want to get angry with the State, but also seems tired of the permanent battles between EDF and its shareholder. He presides over the commitments of the public company and followed the CEO line.

Luc Rémont demanded 100% public funds for the construction of EPR2, whose estimates extend 70 to 80 billion euros for twenty years. In front, the government has proposed, for the moment, to assume half of the costs.

The next CEO, Bernard Fontana, will have to analyze the reduction of investments in renewable energy and the perimeter of the group, Arlesian for 10 years.
