She had to eliminate 106 positions in Normandy, the Lubrizol company finally renounces its social plan

The company, which uses a total of 700 people, now says it wants to “ensure the offer” of customers.

Lubrizol France, which produces chemical additives, announced Monday that he renounces an additional notice of a social plan that foresaw the abolition of more than one hundred jobs in his sites in Rouen and Le Havre, in Sena Marítima.

“Lubrizol announced to the Social and Economic Committees (CSE) and the employees of the Rouen and Le Havre sites that ended the current consultation procedure, related to the reorganization of its activities,” the company wrote in a press release.

“In fact, since the announcement of this project, the international context of supply chains has evolved considerably in an uncertain macroeconomic environment and with greater pressure on costs and the availability of raw materials, which significantly affects the entire chemical industry and its clients,” explains Lubrizol.

The announcement, in early February, of the licensees had led to a great strike movement within the company, as well as strong reactions of local elected officials, in particular the socialist mayor of Rouen, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol.

700 employees

According to Lubrizol, the initial restructuring project had been decided “in a context of the need to safeguard its competitiveness, after the fall in the demand of the European additive market that had led to a fall in the production volumes of Lubrizol France in more than 30%, as well as a great excessive capacity of production” in Rouen and Le Hovre.

The company, which uses a total of 700 people, now says it wants to “ensure the offer” of customers.

But “the problem of falling into the volumes of production and overcapacity in the two sites remains a reality,” he emphasizes in the press release Nicolas Adam, general manager of Lubrizol France and director of the site of Le Havre, who wants to work “to find a productive work environment.”

The work safeguard plan, reduced from 169 positions to 106 in the context of negotiations, “stops, as well as all related measures,” Francis Malandain, Lubrizol delegate of Lubrizol de CFE-CFE-CGC confirmed to AFP.

“If it is good news, it is half tones,” he adds, because “management has refused to participate in the absence of PSE (work safeguard plan, editor’s note) over the next three years.”

Lubrizol France produces in its three French sites, in Rouen, Oudalle and Mourenx (Pyrées-Atlantiques), gasoline additives, diesel, as well as motor and industrial lubricants.
