Foie Gras, food for dogs and cats, human hair, beef languages or Christmas trees … The list of American products led by the European Union in response to the customs tasks of Donald Trump constitutes a surprising inventory.
This list published on Thursday is now subject to a public consultation and can be changed.
Objective imports, which represent a total value of 95 billion euros, will only be taxed if the European Union does not conclude an agreement on the lifting of customs measures decided by the US President.
The 218 pages document includes significantly cars and airplanes, fresh fruit, fish, oysters and other shellfish, plastics, chemicals and electrical equipment, or even oil products.
Bourbon and Boeing Aircraft
The Bourbon also appears there, which had been removed from the first set of retaliation measures to save European wines and spirits of possible US reprisals.
Some products may surprise, such as Christmas trees, living bees, camels and parrots, condoms, opium, pearls or even damping cars.
The list also includes key exports from the United States, such as soybeans, as well as several devices, such as sewing machines.
Among large quantities, cars and airplanes, including spare parts, represent a value of 12 and 10,500 million euros, respectively. European measures could inflict a new serious blow to Boeing already in the middle of a crisis.
Plastics and chemicals are another large amount: 12.9 billion euros.
The EU will now consult all those interested in Europe and the rest of the world, until June 10, hoping that this period is sufficient to allow negotiations to avoid a commercial war with their first commercial partner.
