“Strike Breakers”: unions punish the use of voluntary executives during the strike, the SNCF defends itself

It is not a discount training

Another source tells us a little more about the use of this reserve that does not date from yesterday and that not only concerns the controllers.

“The mobilization of executives to allow trains to circulate during social conflicts is a very old practice in SNCF. These mobilizations are traditional in the change stations and the realization of trains. Interested executives, all volunteers and the profession must follow the training, then regularly practice (in addition to their usual missions) to maintain their skills in rail safety and maintain their empowerment,” he explains. “They withdrew a better practical knowledge of developments in the profession of employees who supervise.”

Legal Framework

Finally, “other executives, who have not undergone training in a railway security profession, are always mobilized under the voluntary regime, to strengthen the information of travelers in the stations, during periods of large exits, social movements or special operations, such as last year, for the Olympic Games.”

The management also highlights the fact of seeing its executives “rubbing the CNA core” and rejects the accusations of obstacle to the strike.

A law on public service organization makes it possible to reallocate staff in case of social movement. However, unlike Ter or Interités, TGV is not a public service because it is not subsidized by the State. In addition, Jean-Pierre Farandou is the first to say it.

The practice has never been presented to the courts by the unions.
