Boeing Air accidents: The United States justice plans to abandon prosecution

According to the lawyers of relatives of the victims of the two aerial accidents of Boeing 737 Max in 2018 and 2019, the Department of Justice “developed its preconceived idea that” the manufacturer of airplanes “should be authorized to escape the real consequences of their criminal lies.”

The US Department of Justice has announced to the families of the victims of the two air accidents of Boeing 737 Max that planned to leave the procedures against the aircraft manufacturer, family lawyers on Friday.

“Today, the Department of Justice has celebrated an ‘exchange session’ but has not changed frankly,” said one of the families of the families, Paul Cassell, cited in a press release from the Clifford Cabinet. “On the other hand, they have developed their preconceived idea that Boeing should be authorized to escape the real consequences of their criminal lies,” he denounced, describing the approach of the Ministry of Justice as a “strange plan.”

According to the law firm, the Ministry assured families that no final decision had been made. Contacted by AFP, or the Department of Justice, nor the aircraft manufacturer have so far been comments.

346 dead

Thursday’s meeting between the Ministry and the family representatives was the last step in the litigation launched after the criminal transaction procedure began in 2021 on the two Boeing 737 Max accidents, in 2018 and 2019, which had died of 346 people. The manufacturer agreed last July to be guilty after the Department of Justice concluded that Boeing had not respected the 2021 agreement.

But in December, an American judge had rejected the agreement by integrating the statement of guilt, giving the new Government of Donald Trump the opportunity to decide the procedure to follow. The judge established a trial date on June 23 in Fort Worth, in Texas (South), which also grants, in recent weeks, the possibility that the families of the victims justify their visa application by maintaining the trial.

According to Economic Daily Wall Street Journal, the State Department and Boeing have reached an agreement in principle that would not impose Boeing to declare themselves guilty of criminal status.
