Paris or a breakdown of air traffic control paralyzes the airport

Due to a breakdown of air traffic control devices, the companies were summoned on Sunday to eliminate 40% of their flights until the end of the day at the Oral Paris airport.

The airlines were requested this Sunday, May 18 to suppress 40% of their flights until the end of the day at the Oral Paris Airport, due to a breakdown in air control, announced the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC).

“After a breakdown of the Orly tower air traffic control devices at the beginning of the afternoon of Sunday, May 18, 2025, a regulation of air traffic was imposed that implied a significant decrease in the number of flights,” said the DGAC, which specified that “he asked the airlines to reduce their 40% flight program at the Paris airport for the day.”

“DGAC technical teams are completely mobilized to restore a return to normal as soon as possible,” he said.

The DGAC has not detailed at this stage if traffic would still be interrupted on Monday.

Paris Orly airport saw more than 33 million passengers in 2024, half of the attendance of Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle, according to the figures published by the Paris Airport (ADP).

Disturbances at outputs and arrivals

The flight table that leaves Orly presents many flights canceled this Sunday, such as a Paris-Tooulouse in Air France, which was going to take off at 4 pm, or transavia flights at 4:10 pm for Palma and Tunisia.
