RTE warns of high risk of voltage in the electricity grid in January

In its latest forecast for the electrical system for next winter, the operator of the electrical transmission system foresees an increase in the risk of tensions in the national electrical network.

The manager of the electricity transmission network RTE estimated on Friday that there is now a “high” risk of tensions in the French electricity grid in January, due to the slower-than-expected restart of EDF’s nuclear reactors.

The risk of using the Ecowatt system (and in particular the red alert sign) seems “high in January but will largely depend on weather conditions and the possible occurrence of even a moderate cold snap,” according to the monthly update from “Electrical system outlook published” by RTE.
