It is a shock that can be difficult to overcome. A Spanish company has decided to grant three days of license to its employees in case of the death of a pet, as reported by the media on 3/24.
These are legs & Co, a animal croquette store located in Madrid. “The mourning of a pet is terrible, even worse than that of certain family members with whom we do not spend much time,” justified its founder Claudia Cañellas in the “Tot is Soft” program of TV3.
Cat, dog or rodent: All interested animals
According to her, the measure was “very well received” by the 33 employees. They can request a license paid independently of the animal that dies: a cat, a dog, a guinea pig or any other animal. “We have opened a debate and we decided that the measure must be applied to all types of pets, not only cats or dogs,” explains Claudia Cañellas.
Since the implementation of this additional license, Claudia Cañellas explains that many other companies have contacted it, for more information about the device.
In France, some companies or associations in the animal sector have also taken the step. The SPA offers the possibility that its employees establish an additional license day per year in case of death of its animal, provided that the death certificate issued by the veterinarian. Wamiz or Healthvet companies have also adopted it.
French law does not provide a license for the loss of a four -wishes partner. As a comparison, employees are entitled to 14 days for the death of a child, three days for a couple, a father, a brother or a sister. The duration of this scale can be extended by collective agreements or an agreement of the company.
