The VAT “is not the most fair tax,” says Pierre Moscovici (Auditors Court)

The BFMTV guest, the first president of the Auditors Court recalled how this new tax, promoted by the Government, could first attack the modest households.

It is an opposition of a filigree: BFMTV guest a few minutes after the president of the Medef Patrick Martin, the first president of the auditing court, Pierre Moscovici, contradicted him on the issue of the “social vat”, a tax that François Bayrou and Emmanuel Macron want to take to date.

The employers’ unionist defended the system, to release margins from companies (would reduce employer’s contributions by increasing VAT); I even believed that it was “fair”, since the richest consume more than the poorest. Pierre Moscovici withdrew it, remembering that this budgetary solution was socially harmful.

He also recalled that half of VAT revenues no longer financed the state budget, and that 28% of this income, or almost 50 billion euros, financed social protection.

However, he remained closed in emergency observation on public finances. The budget effort requested that the French be important. “You must see what level of effort is requested, what is the exchange chosen between taxes and control public spending. We must share according to the contributing capacities of all. But all should be attacked,” he predicted.
