On Friday, China said that I wanted to cooperate more with other countries to control rare land exports, a shortage that threatened car manufacturers and semiconductors in Europe and India. China imposed restrictions in early April, forcing exporters to obtain Beijing licenses.
The country controls more than 90% of the global capacity for the treatment of magnets based on rare earths used in all types of products, from cars to combat aircraft, including appliances. If some licenses have been granted, especially to certain suppliers of Volkswagen, Indian car manufacturers say they did not receive them and that they have to stop their production in early June.
“We are ready to strengthen dialogue and cooperation in the field of export control with interested countries and regions and remain determined to maintain the stability of world production and supply chains,” said Lin Jian, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, about these controls on Friday.
United States suspends sales of essential technologies for China
Chinese state media reported Wednesday that the country could soften their restrictions on rare earth exports for Chinese and European semiconductor companies after the meetings between the industry and the Ministry of Commerce during which the issue of shortage was raised.
The New York Times reported at the beginning of the week that the United States had suspended certain sales of essential technologies for China, including pieces for the PERSE public plane, in response to the restrictions imposed by China in essential mineral exports.
