The dockers of the port of Marseille-Fos refuse to collect military components that would go to Israel on Thursday, announced the CGT of the Dockers workers on Wednesday, marking their refusal to “participate in the current genocide orchestrated by the Israeli government.”
“This morning they notified us that a boat, ensuring a regional line in the Mediterranean, had to collect a container on Thursday with parts for machine guns manufactured by Eurolinks. We managed to identify it, leave it aside,” he told AFP, general secretary of Dockers and Puerto de Fos.
According to the union, these are 19 tons of 14 tons in total links manufactured by the Marseille Eurolinks company. According to Christophe Claret, from the moment Dockers refuse to collect a merchandise, no one can do it in their place. The other containers for this ship will be well loaded.
Contacted by AFP, Eurolinks did not track. The port of Marseille-Fos had no comments to make.
“Gloria to the Dockers of the port of Marseille-Fos”, “worldwide, the fight is organized against Gaza genocide!”, Twitte the deputy LFI of Bouche-Du-Rhône Manuel Bompard.
The party leader, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, published a similar message, demanding by passing a “embargo now on the weapons of genocide.”
The first secretary of the Socialist Party, Olivier Faure, also congratulated them on X, added: “Humanism is not for sale.”
According to the dissemination research site, which had access to maritime data, two other expeditions of this type between FOS-Sur-MER and Haifa took place on April 3 and May 22.
These links produced by Eurolinks, small metal pieces used to join machine gun bullets and allow explosion fire, had been mentioned in March 2024 by revelation and marsactu, according to who probably “are probably used against civilians in the Gaza Strip.”
Reacting to this information, the French Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, said at that time that these pieces exported by the Marseille company could only be “re -exported” by Israel.
After the attack against Israel led by the Hamas armed Islamist movement on October 7, 2023, which left 1,218 dead on the Israeli side, mostly civilians, according to an AFP count based on official data, the Israeli army led to an offensive to Gaza in reprisals. This left more than 54,600 dead, mostly civilians, according to the latest data from the Hamas Ministry of Health, considered reliable by the UN.
