Noise, world, pollution … Many important European tourist destinations are certainly essential, but sometimes very stressful for tourist Lambda. The Icelandir airline has tried to classify 30 by trusting the TripAdvisor, Numbook, LightpollutionMap.info and official tourism sources.
She drew five indicators of “true tranquility”: tourist density, hotel density, noise pollution, light pollution and crime rate.
Florence, the city of museums and noise
First, we find Florence, in Italy, with a score of 32. If the city museum is magnificent, it is very often full and, therefore, very noisy.
“According to the data, the city shows the levels of noise sound pollution (60 dB) and the highest light pollution of the 30 destinations analyzed. With more than 2,000 hotels grouped in just 102.4 square kilometers, Florence suffers the effects of groove, especially during periods of strong tourist crowds,” they can be read in the study.
The silver medal is won by Nice with a score of 44. “With 190 tourists per square kilometer and per day, it has 489 hotels, which gives it one of the highest hotel densities in the study. It also obtains the worst global score in light pollution and occupies third place in terms of crimes.”
Four French cities in the Top 10
The third place on the podium is occupied by the prestigious Lac de Côme in Italy (51/150). “If the region welcomes a moderate number of tourists for their size, it is poorly classified in light pollution and has a large number of hotels, more than 1,100 distributed in its cities in the Lake. Local authorities have even proposed to establish an excursion tax to manage the growing number of short -term visitors,” says the study.
Behind this upper trio, we find Interlaken, Switzerland (53/150), which suffers from “the strongest tourist density of the entire study (2,300 per square kilometer) and its role as a center for coaches and Swiss rail excursions (which) makes the city often everything except quiet.” Then, Bath in the United Kingdom (56/150). Three French cities complete the Top 10: Colmar, Eze and Annecy.
On the contrary, Icelandir classified, according to the same methodology, the most peaceful cities to visit. It is Hallstatt, in Austria, who obtained the highest score (127/150) ahead of Zermatt, in Switzerland (122) and Folegandros, in Greece (121).
