The negotiation “did not advance” at noon, deplored the CFDT, one of the five social partners that still participates in the “conclave” about pensions, which must end this Tuesday night.
“If this (Tuesday) at night, there is no ‘bougé’ of employers on the question of the ardua and on the issue of ages (retirement, note), it will be useless to” continue the discussions, said Yvan Ricordeau, negotiator of the CFDT, the first French union.
Pascale Coton, negotiator of the CFTC, made the same observation of the blockade at noon. “I don’t know how it will end this afternoon, but if lunch time does not allow employers to return to a slightly more human situation, I think we will have a problem tonight,” he lamented.
“We try to fight”
“Unfortunately, we will not be able to change the age (start) of the 64 years. And therefore, we try to fight as a trade union organization so that a maximum of people can leave before 64 years compared to arduity,” said Pascale Coton. The CFTC thus evokes “women’s careers”, especially mothers, “long careers, to try to make a maximum of” 64 years.
“It is complicated with Medef”, the main representative of the employers “, because in all the proposals we make, especially in terms of arduity, they are in prevention, but not on repair,” Pascale Coton continued.
In other words, the MEDEF rejects the idea of early retirement but favors with the forms of resentment. “Someone who worked all his life in a business, at 55, is told: ‘You are going to make a reset’: it is not possible,” added Pascale Coton. Five social partners still participate in the “conclave”: CFDT, CFTC, CFE-CGC on the side of the Union, Medef and CPME on the employer’s side. FO was from the first meeting on February 27, the CGT and the U2P (employers organ for artisans) closed the door in mid -March.
The end of the “conclave”, scheduled for Tuesday night, is a truth for François Bayrou. The prime minister had launched this new discussion format after an established commitment to the Socialists to avoid the censorship of the Government. The idea was to make the reform of the 2023 limit pension less unpopular, which gradually brought retirees from 62 to 64 to 64 years.
