The Taiwanese China Airlines airline plans to expand its fleet with up to 13 new Airbus, the company announced on Wednesday.
In two ads published in the Market Observation Post system, a platform managed by the Taiwan Stock Exchange and the Taipei Stock Exchange, the company said that its board of directors had approved the acquisition of eight Airbus A321neo and five Airbus A350-900.
The company said that the five Airbus A350-900, used for long distance flights, would be purchased for rent or purchase, with a purchase price limited to $ 1,965 billion or a rental value that does not exceed $ 1,148 billion.
This investment aims to support “long -term operational development and strengthen the flexibility and competitiveness” of the “global level,” he said.
14 Boeing ordered in May
In a separate ad, the company has also announced that it would introduce eight short airplanes to A321 media, five of which, with a value of 240 million dollars, will be supplied by Air Lease Corporation, while the remaining three are still in negotiations.
The expansion of the fleet occurs after the “firm order” in May of 14 Boeing 777 aircraft, the great user of the American aircraft manufacturer, and also includes an option to buy nine additional devices, after China withdrew from an agreement to buy Boeing aircraft due to taxes, a month of the duties of US customs.
This also occurs after a turbulent year for the American aeronautical manufacturer, marked by quality production and control problems, legal procedures, disorders at the company level, greater regulatory monitoring and a strike in an important factory.
