He has won the greatest sum of the history of a television game: Will “midday shots” receive its 2.5 million euros without paying taxes?

Midi’s emblematic mountain has just been harmful, it still goes with an exceptional prize of 2.5 million euros (in money and gifts). But will you have to pay taxes on this amount?

The end of a phenomenon. Émilien, emblematic champion of the television game The 12 Noon Shots, was eliminated this Sunday, July 6, after 647 participations and almost two years of reign.

The one who previously followed the studies of the geography of the story in Toulouse, placed from parentheses, broke in February the record of the greatest gain won in a program in France when exceeding the symbolic milestone of the 2 million euros in its kitten.

After his elimination, the 22 -year -old student of Vendée, leaves with an exceptional kitten of more than 2.5 million euros, in money and gifts. But will you have to pay taxes on these profits?

Without income taxes, unless …

Theoretically, the answer is no. Game earnings, if they must be declared, are not subject to taxes. Except that Taxman provides an exception. When profits come from a usual practice that generates significant income, the administration can decide to impose sums.

“This is an evaluation on a case -by -case basis,” said the General Directorate of Public Finance (DGFIP), which, therefore, will have to analyze this exceptional case. And in Emilien’s situation, the question could arise. Because after 647 programs and almost two years of participation, the television game is similar to a regular activity for the candidate.

Capital Profit Taxes

One thing is safe, on the other hand, if Emilien decides to invest your money in investments or shares, capital gains and interests will obviously be taxed.

If you invest part of your profits in shares and bonds through an account account, for example, interest, dividends and capital gains obtained thanks to your financial titles will be taxed for the Single Flat Rate Tax (PFU) at 30%.

In addition, Emilien may decide to share their loved ones. In this case, the beneficiaries of their donations will have to pay the donation tax.

Finally, if the candidate decides to give part of his loot to a charity association, this time he can benefit from a tax reduction of up to 75% of the amount granted.
