There will be no additional time. After postponing the deadline for the entry into force of customs tasks from July 9 to August 1, Donald Trump certified in his social social network that there will be no additional extension.
“According to the letters sent to Hiers to several countries, as well as those that will be sent today, tomorrow and soon, customs duties will begin to be raised on August 1, 2025. This date has not changed and will not change,” said the US president.
14 countries directed at this stage
In the last hours, Donald Trump has sent 14 letters almost identical to several countries to inform them that they would be affected by customs surcharges on August 1, having not completed a commercial agreement with the United States.
LThe amount of customs duties that plans to apply to its products, as of August 1, varies: from 25% (Japan, South Korea, Tunisia in particular) to 36% (Cambodia and Thailand) and up to 40% (Laos and Burma). Among the four non -Asian countries of a letter, South Africa is the objective of a 30%surcharge.
The letters emphasize that if the goods are sealed from these countries, but in reality they come from other places, a “higher” surcharge will be applied. It has not given any quantity or country cited directly, but the Chinese products that pass through these countries seem to be attacked.
