The petition requesting the repeal of the Dupomb Law crossed 1.4 million signatures on Monday after spending millions of millions on Sunday. And the government must react. Annie Ginevard, the Minister of Agriculture, spoke of her position on X, ensuring that “the government is, of course, available” for a debate.
However, the minister shows his hostility to the petition. She recalls that the Duplumbación Law project “aims to respond to an emergency situation that certain sectors live” and that their repeal “would open the way to the strong dependence on imports that do not respect our high standards of health and environment.”
The arguments surpassed by the violation of environmental associations, political oppositions and especially by scientists, of which a thousand had divided an open letter of May to denounce the Duplevumbumbus proposal. Among the most disputed points, the reintroduction of acetamipride, a pesticide forbidden in France since 2018.
The petition, because it exceeds 50,000 signatures, can lead to a debate in the public session in the National Assembly, without this debate that leads to anything specific. The withdrawal of the law cannot take place twice: if the President of the Republic decides, not to promulgate the text, or if a law is voted in this regard. This can go through an opposition group, which would decide to include this potential text during their parliamentary niche.
