Alexandre Bompard remains at Carrefour’s head. The Board of Directors of the distribution giant has pronounced “unanimously” for the renewal of the mandate of its CEO after 2026. It has maintained these functions since 2017.
The Board of Directors “thus reaffirms its support and the confidence it places in Alexandre Bompard to continue the transformation of the group,” Carrefour said in a press release, who also quotes the CEO, “honest with renewed confidence.”
The distribution giant also announced during its half -year results to separate from all its activities in Italy, and has entered exclusive negotiations with Group NewPrins, an Italian Agrifood company.
The sale of Carrefour Italy will be at a “symbolic price,” said the Executive Director of Finance and Administration of the Matthieu Malige group during a telephone press point, mentioning the important losses of this branch that achieved 4.2 billion euros in the billing in 2024.
Decrease in net gain, increasing billing
Carrefour obtained a net gain of 210 million euros in the first half, 33% less than for a year, while improving its profitability in its fundamental countries, France, Spain and Brazil, the group said.
Carrefour’s billing has increased by 3.7% to almost 46.56 billion euros, especially brought by “an activity acceleration and a resumption of volumes in the second quarter in France and Europe,” Carrefour said in a press release.
