“A false good news.” The CPME considers that the consequences of the trade agreement concluded between the United States and the European Union “will be very negative for the French economy and will have disastrous repercussions for thousands of SMEs”, in a statement published on Monday, July 28.
The SME Confederation recognizes that this agreement, which plans to tax European products exported to the United States to 15%, will still allow “a form of visibility for companies”, but adds that “many points must be clarified.”
CPME requires simplifications
In its press release, the CPME warns that “access to the US market will be more difficult and more expensive for French companies now even less competitive and, particularly, for SMEs.”
In response, the Confederation asks Europe to “stop procrastinating and give the means to rebuild its economic, agricultural, energetic, technological, military and digital sovereignty”, by adopting a “simplification and competitiveness agenda.”
“Too of frequently, excessive standards, administrative complexity and super -appropriate undermine the capacity of our companies to face international competition. We do not build economic sovereignty with more rules, but more efficiently,” concludes the CPME press release.
