Infographic With prices that increase half that the European average, French inflation among the lowest in the EU

Inflation remained stable in the euro zone in July, with 2% more than a year, according to data published this Friday, August 1 by the European Statistics Office.

A little less good than the expected figures. According to the latest statistics updated and presented by Eurostat this Friday, August 1, inflation remained stable in July in the euro zone, 2% more than a year. It is a little worse than the analysts’ forecasts, which take a very mild decline.

The underlying inflation corrected for volatile energy and food prices, which refers to experts, has also remained stable, with 2.3% in the 20 countries that share the unique European currency.

0.9% inflation in France

In France, inflation (harmonized index) is estimated at 0.9% for a year in July 2025. It was three times less than last year when it amounted to 2.7% for a year.

After having reached record levels due to the Cavid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, the rhythm of the increase in consumer prices is aligned with the objectives of the European Central Bank. She had reached a record in October 2022, with 10.6% for a year.

From now on, the concern focuses on the low economic growth of the block. And even more with the entry into force, on August 7, of the customs duties of Donald Trump, who give cold sweats to Europeans.

After months of very hard negotiations, Brussels and Washington sealed a commercial agreement based on customs tariffs of 15% in European products that arrive in the United States, with certain tax exemptions, for example, for aeronautics. Before Donald Trump comes to power, European goods were taxed on average to 4.8%.
