An alleged third of criminal fire in a week reached a German railway line, this time in the east of the country, said the operator of the Deutsche Bahn network on Saturday, August 2, after two cases in the West that led to disturbances.
“According to the first elements of the investigators, this cable fire is also a criminal fire,” said Deutsche Bahn, while the railroad tracks are particularly difficult to secure.
At the same time, the company indicated that it has repaired the cables damaged by two other alleged criminal fires in the line between Düsseldorf and Duisbourg, which allows a disturbed traffic restoration for two days.
“Five cables of about 20 meters each” had to be replaced, he said.

The first of the two fires, which occurred on Thursday at a reference station near Düsseldorf, caused significant disturbances of rail traffic in very frequented lines of the Ruhr Industrial Basin, connecting for example, Northern Europe with Switzerland.
The second alleged criminal fire took place on Friday at approximately one kilometer from the first.
The first fire “seems sabotage,” said a AFP police spokesman. It was claimed by a group called “Kommando Angry Birds” in a letter posted on the online platform on the end Indymedia, whose police said they verified authenticity.
In recent years, the German rail network has experienced another alleged sabotage, as in October 2022 or September 2023.
