Four Japanese workers, who inspected pipes, died when they fell into a sewerage mouth near Tokyo, authorities announced this Sunday, August 3.
The four men reviewed pipes on Saturday in the city of Gyoda, north of Tokyo, when a first one in the sewer mouth fell in the sewer mouth, followed by the other three who tried to help him, firefighters said to the AFP.
This inspection was part of a pipe control operation throughout the country to avoid another fatal accident such as the one in January. A truck driver had fallen into an abyss caused by a sinking of Chaussée, linked to the aging of the pipes, near the capital.
Hydrogen sulfide
“We still do not know the circumstances behind this accident,” said a Gyoda City Council official who requested anonymity.
Hydrogen sulphide: a high concentration toxic gas: it has been detected that they escaped from their eyes, they said. The four employees, about fifty, were transported to the hospital where their death was found, according to local media. A dozen workers were on the scene at the time of the accident.
In early May, rescuers found the body of the truck driver who had been swallowed at the end of January when the road he was driving collapsed in the city of Yashio, north of Tokyo.
