Brussels announced on Tuesday, August 5, suspending his reprisals from the customs duties of Donald Trump, on Tuesday, due to the commercial agreement established between the United States and the EU.
In recent months, the commission had prepared a list of American products that would be taxed if the United States and the EU did not reach an agreement. This list included 93 billion euros in goods: soybeans, airplanes, cars, etc.
The EU does not exclude the reactivation of these measures
After months of very hard negotiations, Brussels and Washington sealed at the end of July a commercial agreement based on customs duties of 15% in European products that arrive in the United States.
However, the European Union did not exclude the reactivation of these response measures if the commercial confrontation with the Trump administration knew new turns and turns. “We put (these measures) in the freezer, but we can always take them out,” said a European official based on anonymity.
