Bad news for some of the travelers in Bordeaux-Marseille and Paris-Limoges-Toulouse Interity Lines. As of this Thursday, August 7, until Monday 11, several trains will be canceled, said the SNCF.
In detail, three round trips between Bordeaux and Marseille are eliminated during the period. Three round trips are also canceled on Saturday, August 9 at the Paris-Limoges-Toulouse line. Finally, the railway company announces 2.5 round trips eliminated on Sunday, August 10 in the same line.
In question: the warm climate expected over the weekend that could undermine the rolling stock. “The very strong heat planned in the next few days in the center and the south of the country led us to have to temporarily relieve our transport offer,” SNCF told BFM Business.
“Prevent possible breakdowns”
While the coral trains used sometimes are almost 50 years old, “this measure aims to prevent possible air conditioning linked to very high temperatures,” the company continues. “The operation of the air conditioning of coral cars, of course, 100% of the summer period trains were verified and are subject to regular maintenance,” he said.
Customers concerned about these cancellations have been contacted by the SNCF to reorganize their trip, “the places that remain available in supervision trains”, especially because the capacity of these trains “will be reinforced to facilitate the postponement of customers whose trains would be eliminated.” Worried travelers, of course, benefit from the exchange or reimbursement of their tickets at no cost.
Last June, the SNCF had already canceled the trains preventively for the same reasons in the Burgundy-Marseille line. These conditions can lead to decompositions or slowdown, for example, overheated electrical and electronic components of signaling systems, too much dilation of the rails or even the relaxation of the catenary.
