“A return to normal”: in 2025, wages increased less than last year, but more than inflation

According to an annual study published by Deloitte’s firm of one million data from 300 companies, workers/employee salaries increased by 2.5% and executives by 2.3% in 2025.

Increases in payment sheets. The salaries of the workers, employees, technicians and domain agents (ETAM) increased by 2.5% this year, against 3.5% in 2024, while executives increased by 2.3%, after 3.4%, according to the analysis of one million salary data of 300 companies of all sizes, geographical sectors and locations.

“After two unprecedented years in terms of percentages of increases that were linked to strong inflation, this year we are talking about a return to normal,” said AFP Sophie Lazaro, associated human capital in Deloitte.

The salary gap between women and men is reduced (but it is still important, especially in executives)

If men continue to win more than women, the average gap with equivalent responsibility and working time, all companies and activity sectors combined, was significantly reduced in 2025, falling to 2.3% against 3.8% in 2024, even according to Deloitte.

The reduction of the difference comes in “in a context of strengthening the European regulatory obligations linked to salary equality”, including the directive on the transparency of the remuneration that must enter into force next year, specifies the study.

This year, this gap is only 1.4% in favor of men among workers/employees, but also 3% among managers and even 10.2% among the upper managers. In addition, the average salary difference between Ile-de-France and the other regions are expanding, from 4% to 5.6% in favor of the capital region.

Less increases for 2026?

Finally, the increase forecasts by 2026 also decrease compared to the forecasts made a year ago, from 3% to 2% for all socio -professional categories, with only 40% of employers who have spoken while these forecasts are generally carried out in the summer, says Sophie Lazaro.
