Mini-Poupées Labu of all colors that hang around the neck, Maki Li, a young Chinese of thirty years, with pride poses Friday in front of a Beijing store, at the launch of a new model of these Stars toys. Sold by the Pop China store chain, these little hairy smiles to the malicious smiles have swept the planet this year, from the fashion streets from New York to stars like Rihanna and Dua Lipa.
On Thursday night, the new models, miniatures, the size of the palm of one hand, were placed online in China for 78 yuan rooms (9 euros). They found the makers practically instantly. Maki Li is one of the happy buyers who managed to have a box of 14 figures. “I am very happy,” AFP said, the 32 -year -old man after recovering and unpacking the beautiful box at a Pop Mart store in a Beijing shopping center.
Produced in limited quantities
Produced in limited amounts, the Labubu (pronounced “la-bou-bou”) caused justices in certain Pop Mart stores in the world. They are usually sold in “mysteries” boxes where the buyer ignores which model is inside. Out of the crowded Boutique in Beijing, Li Jianuo, 43, films his two children unpacking his mini-pecles, which he offered them on the occasion of the beginning of the school year. “It’s too nice!” He exclaims his 12 -year -old daughter upon discovering the white ears of the toy in his box.
This mother spent more than 1,000 yuan (120 euros) to buy several of these new Labubu. She says she will not resell them, even if her children do not have a day. “When they are big, you can remember all the damage we have given to have them. It is important to maintain this memory, I think,” he adds.
Labus were so successful in China that they even appeared … in some speeches of the leaders of the Communist Party in power. Last month, the Minister of Commerce, Wang Wentao, cited these dolls as examples “of new trends, fashions and styles” that probably stimulate the Chinese economy, which makes the idle of the pandemic.
“Something that makes me happy”
27 years, Zhang Jiaru bought a mini pulled box on Friday because he says he loves his “ugly but nice” side. “In the end, I pay, but for something that interests me. These dolls are something that makes me happy,” he explains. In the current economic context, people “cannot afford Balenciaga, so they buy Pop Mart,” Maki Li said in reference to the luxury brand.
Using these labu for yourself, “it is relaxing,” he explains the 30 years. “They will accompany me for a long time,” he says.
