The bodies of two migrants, a man and a girl, were discovered this Saturday, August 30 on a beach on Rhodes Island in the Aegean Sea, according to the Greek Coast Guard.
They were part of a group of 12 migrants, which left Turkey neighbors in pneumatic canoe and that the smuggers left at sea, not far from the coast of the Greek island, according to the Rodiaki news site.
The two bodies were discovered on the beach of Mavros Kavos. The other ten migrants managed to win lands and three were arrested.
1,000 missing migrants or died in the Mediterranean in 2025
In addition, the police discovered another 38 migrants in the Gennadi region, on the island of Rhodes.
The shipwrecks are frequent during these crossings between the Turkish coasts and the Greek islands neighboring.
According to the International Organization for Migration (IIM), more than 1,000 migrants have disappeared or recruited died in the Mediterranean in 2025.
