Although he requested a vote of confidence in the National Assembly on September 8, François Bayrou will be forced to resign if he does not obtain this trust. In fact, he will take his government with him. Emmanuel Macron will have to appoint a new prime minister.
In this case of a resignation by François Bayrou, the idea of having a prime minister “of any political party, civil society or the business world” interests 39% of the French, according to an Elabe survey for BFMTV/La Tribune on Sunday, published this Saturday, August 30.
The national demonstration and the left are in the neck. In fact, 24% of the French would like a RN prime minister against 21% for the left. The right arrives with 10%. Finally, the presidential camp is at the bottom of the ranking with only 6%.
All the responsible political class?
These results are quite similar to another survey published on December 11, 2024, except that, since then, the national demonstration has passed in front of the left. At that time, 41% of the French had indicated to desire an apolitical prime minister, 23% preferred a leftist candidate, 17% of the national demonstration, 12% of the right. Those who wanted a presidential prime minister were only 6%.
If the French seem to disagree with the appointment of the prime minister, they are almost half (45%) to estimate that the entire political class is responsible for the current situation.
32% of them think that the great official is Emmanuel Macron “and in particular his decision to dissolve the National Assembly in June 2024”. They are little to designate only François Bayrou (10%), leftist games (7%) or the national rally (5%).
