China called Japan and the United States to retire “as soon as possible” from the Japanese territory, the United States a system of “typhoon” missile launches of medium range, which considers a threat to their safety.
The system was first implemented in Japan on Monday, according to Japanese public television NHK. It was sent to the archipelago for military exercises with American degrees called “resolved dragon.”
A spokesman from China’s Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, called Tokyo and Washington to “retire as quickly as possible” the system, deployed “challenging Beijing’s strong concerns and” under the coverage of joint military exercises. “
The Typhoon system is considered to have a range of 480 km, enough to reach the east coast of China. It may constitute a double threat to China: it can weaken the potential to stop its nuclear weapons while offering an offensive attack capacity near the Chinese territory.
The “resolved dragon” exercises began on Thursday and must continue until September 25, according to the Japanese Ministry of Defense, according to whom “will strengthen joint deterrence capacities” in Japan and the United States.
Already deployed in the Philippines
The Japanese self -defense forces told AFP that the Typhoon system would not shoot during the exercises.
According to Japanese media, the system should leave Japan after these maneuvers, which especially mobilize war ships and constitute a clear message directed to China.
“The American deployment of the Typhoon system in Asian countries affects the legitimate interests of other countries in terms of security, increases the risk of an arms race and a military confrontation in the region, and constitutes a real threat to regional strategic security,” said the spokesman for Chinese diplomacy.
Philippines, opposed to Chinese territorial statements in the South China Sea, had caused the anger of China in December by stating that they planned to acquire the typhoon system.
The US army had deployed the system in northern Philippines in early 2024 for annual joint exercises.
